Men's Workplace Programs

HEALTHY MEN AT WORK is a proven and effective program which improves men’s health and wellbeing in the workplace.

The program takes a practical, no fuss approach, presenting material in a men friendly and humorous manner, and provides follow up support to assist in maintaining changes.

HEALTHY MEN AT WORK
addresses men in the context of their whole lives and does not just focus on physical health, but integrates emotional and social health. The program also provides a complementary focus on individual change and organisational change processes.

The most challenging aspect of designing and implementing a men’s health program for most HR practitioners, is engaging men so they want to take part and remain involved. This is where we can help.

Our program takes a strength based approach in our work with men; which makes it easy for men to gain knowledge on health issues and make good decisions to improve their health and achieve more in life. One of the shortfalls of men’s health and lifestyle improvement programs has been lack of sustainability.

HEALTHY MEN AT WORK  takes a no nonsense approach to weight management, focusing on healthy eating, physical activity and stress management to make permanent lifestyle changes for men.

Men are very different to women. We are socialised differently and accept greater risks to our health and die younger than our female counterparts. Men often work in isolated worksites and with demanding shiftwork and therefore are understandably harder to reach with standard health promotion programs.

There is a well researched need for men to take better care of their bodies. Along with a 250% higher suicide rate than for women, Australian men have significantly higher rates of heart disease, stroke and certain cancers. They die younger than women, on average living six years less. And much of this ill health is preventable. Statistics tell us that men are more likely than women to smoke, be overweight, have high blood pressure and not be on medication, and be less active after the age of 35.

HEALTHY MEN AT WORK programs are tailored to suit the individual needs of the workplace, and management and workers' needs but could well include some of the following:

· simple nutrition and better eating information

· information and perhaps opportunities for physical activity

· creating your personal health plan with your GP that includes appropriate health checks for your age group

· a focus on motivation to change unhealthy routines if you need to

· a look at values that men attach to life, relationships, work and leisure

· information on depression, anxiety and stress management

· sexual health information for men of all ages

· coping with changing roles in life like parenthood, separation, career changes and early retirement

A HEALTHY MEN AT WORK  program is implemented in a format that suits your organizational needs and an individual package price will be negotiated with each organization. Our prices include initial consultation, advice on promotion, delivery of health education sessions that suit your time structure, evaluation of session and report delivered and ongoing support for participants as needed.
